Joining a school as an instructor

Accept your invite, set up your CFI profile, and find your way around the dashboard.

If a flight school has invited you to instruct on Checkride, you'll get an email with a tokenized join link. Click it and you'll either sign in (if you already have a Checkride account) or be prompted to create one. Either way, the invite auto-joins you to the school in the role they chose for you.

Set up your CFI profile

After joining, head to Settings → Profile and fill in:

  • CFI certificate number — required before you can issue endorsements
  • Ratings held — single-engine, multi-engine, instrument, etc. Drives what training types you can sign off on.
  • Medical certificate class and expiry — the platform warns you (and your school admin) one month before expiry
  • Bio / headshot — surfaced to students on your appointment requests, optional but recommended

Find your way around

Three areas you'll use most:

  • Schedule — your weekly grid for availability and lessons. See Setting your availability.
  • Students — the roster of students currently working with you, with quick access to each one's logbook and training progress.
  • Approvals — the queue of logbook entries waiting for your sign-off. See Approving logbook entries.

Switching between organizations

If you instruct at more than one school, your top-of-page workspace picker lets you switch contexts. Your schedule, students, and approvals filter to the active workspace. Your CFI profile (certificate, ratings, medical) is shared across all of them.

Payouts

Before you can be paid, you'll need to connect your own Stripe Connect account — separate from the school's. See Connecting your payout account.

Until your payouts are set up, you'll see a yellow banner on your dashboard. Your lessons still log normally; the payments are held until your account is ready.
