Signing in

Email + password, magic-link, Apple SSO, and what to do when an email confirmation link doesn't work.

You can sign in to Checkride with email + password, a one-time magic link, or Apple SSO. All three lead to the same account — they're just different ways to prove it's you.

Email + password

The most familiar option. After your first signup, set a password under Settings → Security → Set password. From then on, the standard sign-in form works.

If you signed up via a magic link and never set a password, you can either:

  • Use Forgot password to set one, or
  • Keep using magic links forever — the platform doesn't require a password to be set.

From the sign-in screen, Sign in with a magic link. Enter your email; we send a one-time link valid for a short window. Click it and you're signed in.

Magic links don't replace a password — they coexist. Useful when you're on a new device and don't remember your password.

Apple SSO

If you signed up with Apple, you continue signing in with Apple. The platform doesn't expose a password for Apple-SSO accounts — Apple is the source of truth for that identity.

Email confirmation

When you sign up via email + password, we send a one-time confirmation link. Until you click it, your account is in an unconfirmed state and you can't sign in.

If the confirmation email doesn't arrive:

  • Check spam.
  • From the sign-in screen, Resend confirmation. Enter your email; a fresh link is sent.

Confirmation links expire after a few days. Expired link? Resend.

When you confirm an email, any prior session on the device is dropped. We do this on purpose: it's the moment we know the email is yours, and we'd rather force a fresh login than let a prior session ride on a freshly verified identity.

Two-factor authentication

Not currently supported as a self-serve setting. School owners on enterprise contracts can request SAML SSO with their identity provider — contact support.

Trouble signing in

In order of how often each one is the culprit:

  1. Email isn't confirmed. Check for a confirmation email; resend if needed.
  2. You're under 18 and parental consent hasn't been granted. Check with your guardian — see Parental consent.
  3. Wrong password. Use Forgot password to reset it.
  4. Account is suspended. Your school may have suspended your membership. Contact your school admin.
  5. Magic link expired. Request a new one.
