Scheduling and managing lessons

Request a lesson from a CFI's published availability, or propose a time outside it.

There are two ways to schedule a lesson on the platform: pick from a CFI's published availability, or propose a custom time that your CFI then approves or denies.

Booking from published availability

Schedule → New lesson. The picker shows your CFI's availability blocks for the next few weeks.

  1. Pick a slot.
  2. Optionally pick an aircraft from your school's fleet.
  3. Add notes about what you want to work on (helpful for your CFI's prep).
  4. Submit.

The lesson is created in pending state. Your CFI sees the request in their inbox and approves or denies. Approved lessons land on your schedule. Denied requests come back with a note explaining why.

Proposing a custom time

If none of your CFI's published times work, Schedule → Propose time lets you submit a request without an existing availability block:

  1. Pick the date and start/end time you'd like.
  2. Pick the CFI (defaults to your primary instructor if one is set).
  3. Optionally pick aircraft and add notes.
  4. Submit.

This still creates a pending appointment. The CFI is more likely to approve a slot that's near their published availability than a 6 AM Saturday with no prior context — but it's their call.

Cancelling

You can cancel any of your appointments from the appointment detail page. Cancellation policies vary by school:

  • Some schools require a minimum notice window (often 24 hours).
  • Some bill a no-show fee for late cancellations.
  • Your school's policy, if any, is shown on the cancellation confirmation.

The platform itself doesn't enforce fee billing automatically — that's between you and your school.

If you cancel a lesson that had an aircraft attached and you'd already checked it out, you still need to return the aircraft. The cancellation removes the lesson; it doesn't close the open reservation.

What you'll see when your CFI reschedules

If your CFI drags your lesson to a new time, you'll get a push notification and an email. The lesson chip on your schedule updates to the new time. There's no separate accept/decline step on your end — the move stands unless you cancel or reach out to your CFI.

Reminders

By default, the platform sends a push reminder one day before and one hour before each lesson. Email reminders mirror the same schedule. Both are configurable under Settings → Notifications.
